Here are some of the life changing stories from the children's families and their teachers.
I Can Write My Letters
As a preschool teacher, my job is to help children to learn their letters. This year, 3 of my students ended up needing glasses. At the beginning of the school year, I always introduce the children’s names with an emphasis on their first letter. I could immediately tell that Alejandro couldn’t tell the difference between letters. He would appear confused and upset. After he got his glasses, he started writing his name and was able to name all of his letters. I loved it when he said, “teacher ya me se las letras.” (“Teacher, I know my letters.”)
Omar used to write his name by overlapping all the letters and it was hard for him to write legible identifiable letters. After he wore his glasses he started separating the letters as he wrote his name. Jacqueline couldn’t even write a letter. After she got her glasses, she would write her name and also make pictures with lots of details.
As a teacher, I think that it is very important that children are screened as early as possible to meet their educational and developmental needs.
Sincerely,

Now My Daughter Can Learn
My daughter Isabel was only 4 when we went to the EyeMobile for her first eye exam. I was pleasantly surprised with the way it all worked and I was even more surprised with how good the doctor was with my daughter. When it came time to put the drops in her eyes, I thought that she would yell, kick or scream, which had happened before. The doctor told me that was the only way he could make sure that Isabel had healthy eyes. He leaned down to talk to Isabel and told her that he was going to put princess drops in her eyes and, that after he placed the drops, she would be able to see like Cinderella. Instead of having a tantrum, she was smiling the whole time. Isabel was prescribed glasses and although it was hard for me, I know she can see the books and color in her coloring book without a problem and for that I will always be grateful.
Thank you EyeMobile for making sure my princess can start kindergarten ready to learn. It means a lot.
With much appreciation,

I Am So Grateful
Raising three children as a single parent is not the easiest. I work two jobs, and even then, it just doesn’t seem to pay all the bills. Like most mothers, I want my children to grow up healthy and happy. So when I noticed that my middle child, Danielle, was not keeping up with the others, I started to worry. I never suspected she needed glasses. Because my insurance does not cover vision, and I would have to take a day off work to get her an exam, Danielle almost didn’t get the help she needed. The EyeMobile program came to her preschool and did her exam. The doctor said that she needed glasses and, soon after she got them, she changed. Now she is keeping up with the other kids. I am so grateful for the EyeMobile. Without it, Danielle wouldn’t have gotten the help she needed.
Thank You, Thank You,
