Dr. Jeffrey Lee is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in comprehensive ophthalmology, complex cataract surgery, and anterior segment disease. He is dedicated to providing individualized, evidence-based care while utilizing the most advanced surgical techniques to help patients achieve their best possible vision. His clinical practice includes the management of cataracts, pterygium, ocular trauma, and a wide range of medical and surgical eye conditions.
As Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at UC San Diego, Dr. Lee combines exceptional patient care with a deep commitment to education, research, and service. He serves as Program Director of the UC San Diego Ophthalmology Residency Program, where he mentors and trains future ophthalmologists while overseeing a nationally recognized residency education program. His dedication to teaching has been recognized through multiple educational awards and honors for both teaching, patient care, and professionalism.
Dr. Lee earned his medical degree from the UC San Diego School of Medicine and completed his ophthalmology residency training at the UC San Diego Shiley Eye Institute. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to advancing patient care through clinical research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration. His academic interests include ocular trauma, orbital disease, ocular manifestations of systemic illness, medical education, and improving the delivery of ophthalmic care.
Having cared for diverse patient populations in both academic and public hospital settings, Dr. Lee values a compassionate, patient-centered approach. He believes in developing meaningful partnerships with patients and their families and strives to ensure that every treatment plan is tailored to the individual needs and goals of each patient.
Dr. Lee is passionate about expanding access to high-quality eye care and supporting programs that serve underserved and vulnerable communities. He is equally committed to educating the next generation of physicians and advancing the field of ophthalmology through scholarship, mentorship, and lifelong learning.
