Jolene Rudell, MD, PhD

Jolene Rudell, MD, PhD, specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Dr. Rudell received her MD and PhD degrees from the University of California, Davis, where her doctoral work was in the field of neuroscience. She completed her residency in ophthalmology at UC Davis and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the University of Washington.

Dr. Rudell’s practice focuses exclusively on pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Her clinical interests include caring for patients with strabismus, eye misalignment, double vision, amblyopia, pediatric cataracts, nasolacrimal duct disorders, congenital eye syndromes, and systemic diseases affecting the eyes. She also participates in extensive basic science research and leads her own basic science laboratory, with goals of better understanding strabismus and pediatric ophthalmic disease and seeking improved treatments for patients.

She is an invited speaker and lecturer at conferences around the world, and she has received multiple awards in clinical care, research, and leadership, including a National Institutes of Health K08 award, fellowship in the Council for Vision Editors sponsored by the National Eye Institute, and selection as a participant in the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) Women’s Leadership Development Program. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
