Construction Alert – Effective Monday, October 20
Beginning Monday, October 20, construction near the Shiley Eye Institute and the Athena Parking Structure will impact pedestrian and vehicle access to Shiley. Please review the following important information to plan your visit accordingly.
Changes to Traffic Flow on Medical Center Drive
Traffic patterns along Medical Center Drive continue to operate as two-way traffic to accommodate the construction.
Athena Parking Structure – Lane Closure
At the west entrance/exit of the Athena Parking Structure (the one closest to the Shiley Eye Institute), one of two exit lanes will be closed to support construction activities. Two-way traffic will still be maintained.
Sidewalk Closure
The sidewalk across from the Athena Parking Structure to the main pedestrian walkway leading to the Shiley Eye Institute will be closed during construction. Please follow pedestrian detour signs.
Appointment Planning
We encourage all patients and visitors to please arrive early for appointments to allow for possible delays due to detours and changes in traffic patterns. Please follow all detour signage, use the sidewalk, and use crosswalks when proceeding to and from your appointment.
For questions please call (858) 534-6290.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during the long-term construction activity the campus is undergoing to improve our facilities.
