On Wednesday, June 12, 2013, Natalie Afshari, M.D., Professor of Ophthalmology and Chief, Division of Cornea and Refractive Surgery, presented a fascinating lecture entitled “Artists and Eyes: What do Artists See?” The Shiley Eye Center Conference Room was crowded to capacity and many artists were in attendance which made for a rousing discussion after her lecture. Dr. Afshari discussed eye conditions and their relation to various artists' works such as Monet having cataracts and Georgia O’Keefe having macular degeneration. As always, there was a social reception in the Shiley Eye Center lobby immediately afterwards. The next lecture will be in the fall.
